Community Investment · Update

We're about 80% of the way through our community raise.

Here's where things stand, and a few of the things happening on the farm because of it. If you've been thinking about investing, there's still a bit of room.

What's happening on the farm

What the new equipment is letting us do.

A good part of what's been raised went into the processing and packing room. None of it is flashy, but each piece changes what we can actually get done in a day. A few examples:

The roll-stock packaging machine arriving at the farm on delivery day
Roll-stock delivery day.
Shawna holding the first trial packages produced on the new roll-stock machine
Shawna with our first trial packages off the roll-stock — we've gotten a lot better at it since.

The roll-stock packaging machine

We can now package our cuts in-house — sealed, labeled, and retail-ready — instead of sending that work out. The packs come out consistent, and we get through a lot more of them in the same amount of time.

Stacking pallets high in the barn

With a pallet stacker and new shelving, we're storing up instead of out. That's more capacity in the same footprint, and less time spent shuffling things around to find room.

More frozen storage

An added freezer container gives us room to hold and stage product properly. That keeps everything organized through the busy season and makes packing orders quicker and more efficient.

The Lucky Linker

This one lets us make a wider range of sausages and links, so we can grow our product line and say yes to more of what customers have been asking for.

All of it is in and running now.

What we're working on next

Now the job is to put it all to use.

A farm spends ahead of itself — we hire and train before the work picks up, and get the new equipment humming before it saves us any time. The support we've raised is what makes that possible. Over the coming months, that means:

  • Reaching more customers through the farm store, online shop, markets, and home delivery.
  • Adding to the team and training everyone up on the new gear.
  • Packing and fulfilling orders with less wasted time and labor.
  • Keeping better track of inventory, and of the animals and fields.
