The season is starting up again, and the energy is real. The first chicks are here, the pastures are drying out, and we’re deep in the rhythm of setup — brooders, fencing, and crew all coming online to make the most of Vermont’s short but powerful growing season.
Brooding: Where Every Chicken’s Journey Begins
Each week from April through early fall, 800 day-old chicks arrive on the farm — and their first few weeks in the brooder are some of the most important. These cozy shelters keep the chicks warm and safe while they grow strong enough for the pasture. Inside, they’ve got clean bedding made from wood shavings and peat moss, fresh water, plenty of organic grain, and our watchful livestock guardian dogs, keeping an eye out for aerial predators.
Once they’re feathered out and ready to handle the elements, they’re moved to mobile coops out on pasture — rotated daily to fresh ground. It’s better for the land, better for the birds, and better for the food we feed our families (and yours).
We’re Hiring for the Season
If you’ve ever wanted to be part of a regenerative farm in full swing, now’s the time. We’re currently hiring for several seasonal roles across our production, processing, and fulfillment teams. Our crew is the heartbeat of the farm — strong, collaborative, and proud of the work we do together. Positions are 4-day workweeks, with competitive pay, access to farm products, and a front-row seat to the kind of food system we believe in.
How You Can Support: CSA Drive is On!
Our Spring CSA Drive is one of the most impactful ways to support the farm. When you buy a CSA share, you’re helping us kickstart the season with the resources we need — and in return, you get a bonus on your credit to use throughout the year.
Use your CSA credit online or at the farm store for pasture-raised meats and local goods. There are three share sizes available, and all of them come with a 15% bonus during the drive (through April 21). That’s our way of saying thank you for believing in this work and helping us do it right.
